Meet The Team

During my life, I was in a position to seek the services of medical professionals for any health issues, including early detection screening. I joined the Project Detect board several years ago as I was very motivated to help others who are less fortunate.

My main focus has been on securing sponsors of local businesses in the Charlotte County area for donations. Their donations help us with our goal of helping less fortunate folks in our community obtain help for early cancer screening.

I am very committed to the mission of Project Detect. The fact that the funds raised stay within our Port Charlotte Community is also important to me. Providing those who are uninsured or underinsured with cancer screening saves lives. As a breast cancer survivor, I know firsthand that early detection is key to proper treatment and survival. I am proud to support this worthy cause.

I am honored to serve this worthy cause.  I believe in Project Detect’s dedication to detecting cancer and ultimately finding a cure.  It is a pleasure to be a part of the Riverwood Community.

I have lived in Riverwood for 20 years and serve on many committees, as it is very important to me to give back to the community. I am a people person so I love to help others every chance I get. I was so honored when Rita asked me to help out with Project Detect and to be on this committee. This past year, three friends were diagnosed with breast cancer; I knew by being on this committee I was helping to fight against this disease that affects so many.  We all have to help make a difference. My motto is Life is…Whatever you make it.

I became involved with Project Detect because I strongly believe in its mission to help needy Charlotte County residents receive life-saving cancer screenings.

The year we moved to Riverwood, I was asked to play in the Project Detect tournament in place of a cherished friend of the other golfers who did not survive cancer. Their passion for the cause and love for their friend, and the experiences of others close to me, inspired me to volunteer. I am grateful to work with so many caring and dedicated people and to be a part of this life-saving effort.

I am a retired business owner from Madison CT. My interest in Project Detect stems from the loss of my mother and older brother to cancer. Many with similar family histories engage in fundraising but Project Detect has offered me the opportunity to have an impact on the fight against cancer in a deeply personal way. Helping to provide the means for early detection to some of our neediest Charlotte County residents and having the opportunity to meet with them and hear their stories has been an incredible experience for me.

I felt strongly about Project Detect's cause and mission. Project Detect gives people hope.  Cancer is no stranger to my family. My mother, sister, and mother-in-law were all diagnosed with cancer. My sister has been cancer-free for over twenty-five years.  One of the key ingredients was early detection and proper screening.  The funds raised for Project Detect provides people with that care.

My heart has always been to help those in need. During my corporate years in IT, I was actively involved in raising funds for a grass-roots local charity that put new winter coats on school-age children of “working poor families” in the Chicago neighborhoods. Now retired and a breast cancer survivor of five years, I have found this same mission to raise funds so that those who do not have adequate insurance coverage are enabled to have cancer screening. Project Detect is the perfect way to reach those folks in need.

I have had a rewarding career in the non-profit sector promoting arts access and education, receiving several community achievement awards for initiatives connecting and strengthening the community. I am honored to be on the Board of Directors for Project Detect and apply my passion for a strong and healthy community – and what better way than to help individuals receive health care.

I am retired from private practice as a Diagnostic Radiologist and Radiation Oncologist with strong beliefs in early detection of cancer as the best outcome for a cure. I find working with the other board members and devoted volunteers of Project Detect a rewarding benefit to help those who are unable to afford screening evaluations.
